To empower the people of rural Malawi through early childhood education and community development.
The Mustard Seed is a community-based organization addressing development challenges, one of which is the lack of education, especially in early childhood. We operate a pre-school located in Chanika Village near Malingunde Trading Center in the Central Region of Malawi. The pre-school currently serves approximately 100 children ages 3-4 (nursery class) and 5-6 (Kindergarten class), focusing on three main needs:
Education: Children attend pre-school classes taught by our 3 qualified local teachers.
Nutrition: Children are provided a nutritionally fortified porridge meal at school each day made from crops grown in our village.
Health: Preventive health care includes partnership with the government for childhood vaccinations and necessary medical care.
